Welcome!! We love that you’re a member of the Roy Hobbs Baseball Family!
Baseball is in our blood; and the infield dirt, the smell of the grass and the crack of the bat fuel us and drive us to consume more. More time on the field. More equipment. More news and stories. More – well, you get the idea. So, take a few minutes to discover all that’s new in YOUR family. And thanks for your time and patronage of Roy Hobbs
Baseball!
ROB GIFFEN STEPS AWAY FROM ROY HOBBS
Rob Giffen stepped away from Roy Hobbs Baseball as of January 1, to pursue his own passions and professional goals.
Roy Hobbs is most appreciative of his time with the organization as our event operations coordinator, for his efforts to make our organization more professional, streamline our registration and website operations, and to expand our events & programs.
Rob has had 2 stints with Roy Hobbs, the first coming when Tom was struck with a life-threatening
disease in 2000. Rob stepped in shortly thereafter to stabilize the operation and make sure that his father dealt with his health issues. Following that, he went back to school in Florida. In 2011, when Todd Windhorst retired, Rob cam back to take over Todd’s responsibilities. He built upon that, especially in the area of technology, working hard to refine our registration system and create relationships with our customers.
Like all of us, however, Rob has his dreams. He has long had a love affair with cars and sports car racing. The time has come, he said in December, to pursue that dream and those professional goals. Who are we to debate that – in 1992, Ellen and I purchased Roy Hobbs Baseball from Ron Monks and set out to build a premier amateur adult baseball organization. In 1995, I ended 35
years as a journalist to devote full time to Roy Hobbs and follow my dream. It has been an interesting and exciting road.
Now Rob wants to follow that path, and we are sure he will be successful. He knows how to work hard and focus on the future. His time with Roy Hobbs has shown he can do that. We are thankful for his time with Roy Hobbs, his dedication to our organization and goals and his customer service leadership.
We wish him good fortune in his pursuit of opportunities to explore his passions and reach his goals. There is no doubt that he will be missed here at Roy Hobbs. ~Tom Giffen
SUNSHINE CLASSIC READY TO ROLL FOR 2021
The Sunshine Classic will get underway for its 11th year in 9 days!
This popular event is sold out except for the March 60+ division, which has 4 team slots still available. This year’s event will have 9 divisions, with 106 teams registered to date, along with more than 150 free agents.
We also have a single opening in the 55+ division as we had a team drop out very recently. Please email Tom directly if you have a team interested in filling this spot. tg@royhobbs.com
The 2021 Sunshine Classic will be somewhat different in that we are still dealing with the Covid-19 virus. We cannot do the locker room – there is simply too much risk involved in putting 200+ ball players in one room, knowing full well the risks with this nasty disease.
While Roy Hobbs is committed to continuing its CV19 on- and off the field policies, we are working hard to keep all the remaining amenities of the event in place but outside. We are looking forward to making the 2021 event the best ever, regardless of circumstances, and want to thank everyone for their support and commitment to the celebration of quality amateur adult baseball.

Harry Chapin Food Bank, the Fort Myers Community Cooperative, which feeds homebound citizens and the Adult Abuse Treatment center in Fort Myers.
