March 2020: Welcome!! We love that you’re a member of the Roy Hobbs Baseball Family!
Baseball is in our blood; and the infield dirt, the smell of the grass and the crack of the bat fuel us and drive us to consume more. More time on the field. More equipment. More news and stories. More – well, you get the idea. So, take a few minutes to discover all that’s new in YOUR family. And thanks for your time and patronage of Roy Hobbs

COVID-19 : HOW IS IT IMPACTING ROY HOBBS BASEBALL AND OUR EVENTS?
A letter to our patrons and sponsors from RHBB President, Tom Giffen:
THANKS TO ALL OF OUR SUNSHINE CLASSIC PARTICIPANTS FOR MAKING OUR 2020 TOURNAMENT A GREAT SUCCESS!
Schedules and results can be viewed using this link: https://royhobbs.com/sunshine-classic/schedules
*NOTE: The 70+ Division of the Sunshine Classic scheduled for March 26-29th HAS BEEN CANCELLED due to concerns for the health of our players amid the COVID-19 virus crisis.
2020 SPRING DINGER CANCELED
After serious discussion about the ability to hold this event within the newest guidelines for COVID-19 safety precautions, we have decided to cancel the 2020 Spring Dinger. We are already looking ahead to 2021 for this event, and thanks to the incredible interest in this tournament, are planning to expand the dates to include more teams. So this event will most surely be back!
We ask that all players who have already made reservations in Asheville please call and cancel their reservations as a courtesy to our host hotels.
Our sincere thanks to the Michigan Red Sox, New Bern Bears, Wright Field Reds, Huntsville Stars, Clearwater Crusaders, Pittsburgh, Richmond Riverdogs, Carolina Thunder, Asheville Sox, Carolina Rockies, Tennessee Dirtbags and Atlanta Astros for their patronage and hope that y’all plan to participate next year.
Gateway City Baseball Bash 2020
We are looking ahead to our Gateway City Baseball Bash in the St. Louis, MO area over Memorial Day Weekend. We are experiencing some field availability issues, virus-related closings and therefore we need to get a feel for how many teams have interest in attending this event.
The dates are May 23, 24 & 25 (Sat, Sun, Mon) and fields in use would be located in IL and MO, within a 20 minute drive of downtown St. Louis. At this time we have not finalized all the field locations, but we are still working on that.
We hope that we will get back into a stadium this year. There will be a single division (60+), even number of teams and the number of fields we can get will determine the number of teams we can accept.
Please let us know if you are interested in entering a team this Memorial Day weekend by emailing Rob Giffen (rg@royhobbs.com). We look forward to hearing from you and if you have any questions or concerns please contact us.

SOUTH KOREAN PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL COMES TO FT. MYERS!
Roy Hobbs had the opportunity to be part of an exciting debut in the Ft. Myers baseball world this February and March as the Kia Tigers of the KBO League (Korean Baseball Organization) chose to hold Spring Training in SW Florida after previous years in Arizona. Terry Park hosted 90+ players, managers, interpreters, umpires and other organization honchos on the fields and in the locker room as they prepared for their 2020 season. Managed this year by former MLB Cleveland Indians player, Matt Williams, the Kia Tigers hold 11 championships out of 18 years of KBO play.
Although some of the customs and the language differed from ours, on the field it’s 100% American Baseball rules and talent! Great to be a part of it as well as to observe and we hope they choose to come back next year!
