Baseball is in our blood; and the infield dirt, the smell of the grass and the crack of the bat fuel us and drive us to consume more. More time on the field. More equipment. More news and stories. Roy Hobbs World Series #35

The Roy Hobbs staff has started work on the 2024 RHWS, No. 35. Here are some
updates:

1. Invitations: Reservation invitations will be emailed to managers of record on
Friday, April 5. Deposit deadline to reserve a spot is May 24. 60s/70s will fill
fast and we anticipate capping that week at 80 teams. A calendar of
deadlines thru the summer can be found here: https://royhobbs.com/world-

2. Age Adjustments: We have made some adjustments in the 70s and 75s. Age
guidelines can be found here: https://royhobbs.com/world-series/rules-
guidelines/underage

3. 80s play: Given the issues encountered in 2023, we suggest playing 80s
during the first week: a 5-day event, October 22-26. See Tom’s latest blog for
an explanation of our reasoning.

4. RH policy guidelines: We are going to require all AAAA players to be in the
dugout for the first playoff game each Thursday for continued playoff
eligibility.

5. Tom discusses some of these issues in his Blog, which was
published April 4.

Sunshine Classic

2. 2025 Sunshine Classic dates will be announced in late May.

Hall of Fame

Nominations for the Class of 2024 for the Roy Hobbs Hall of Fame open on April
15, when you will find a nomination form link on the royhobbs.com landing page.
Please read it carefully and follow the instructions. Nominations that do not
provide concrete examples of contributions to Roy Hobbs Baseball and only rely on
platitudes will be tabled. And please remember that ‘character’ is an important
aspect within consideration.

Deadline for nominations is June 10.

Coming Events …

Spring Dinger: The 2024 event in Asheville, N.C., is sold out … 24 teams in 60s
Open, 60s Elite, 65s and 70s.

Peach State Classic: The Atlanta Men’s Baseball Association holds the event,
which has Roy Hobbs’ blessing and sanction. Age groups of 30+, 43+, 53+ and 60+.

Sea Otter Festival: Roy Hobbs and Joel Weinstein’s Sea Otter organization in
Monterey, California, are host the Sea Otter Festival July 5-6-7 (Friday thru Sunday)
for 45+ and 62+ divisions. More details will be available on royhobbs.com landing
page soon.
