Paying homage: Disabled vets saluted

Between 800 and 1,000 fans attended a Roy Hobbs event to honor disabled veterans on Aug. 11 in Illinois. It’s estimated about $10,000-$15,000 was raised.

Roy Hobbs ChicagoLand plays all-star game to benefit America’s war heroes

The American heroes honored served mainly in Vietnam and  in more recent conflicts such as the Gulf War and in Iraq and Afghanistan. Their disability issues ranged, according to organizer Roger Laurella, from PTSD to loss of hearing to loss of limbs to the aftereffects of exposure to Agent Orange.

Roy Hobbs World Series #34

A simple reminder for managers that the deadline to get the $500 discount is this Friday, August 25.

At this point, it appears we will be entertaining more than 300 teams this fall.  Roy Hobbs wants to thank all the participants for the outstanding support this year as well as during our history.

Registration is now open for each of the following, all of which can be accessed on the royhobbs.com landing page:

• Team Practice fields.
• Locker room
  option for players and teams.
• Free Agent registration.
• 80s exhibition play during 5^th week of 2023 event.

Hall of Fame

The 2023 Roy Hobbs Hall of Fame is adding 4 members in the Class of 2023.

They are: David Ball of North Carolina, Kelly Copeland of Tennessee, Steve Murfin of Maryland and Jose Rosado of Florida.

Elected by a vote of members of the Hall of Fame and Members of the Board of Trustees, these four, along with the single 2022 honoree Bruce Doney, will be inducted in a ceremony this fall in Fort Myers during the 2023 World Series.

Sunshine Classic

2024 Sunshine Classic dates are set.  Click here to see those dates.

Please note the
Free Agent Fest, which will be an experiment, is a free agent draft event with a morning practice, lunchtime draft and 4 games.  It will be 45-and-over (50 to pitch) and slotted between the 50 & 55s Legends SC events.

Invitations will be issued the weekend after Thanksgiving.

Initial invitations will go to returning teams in good standing.

If you are a new team and desire an invitation, please send an email in September to teammatesupport@royhobbs.com with basic details on your team.
