April 2020: Welcome!! We love that you’re a member of the Roy Hobbs Baseball Family!
Baseball is in our blood; and the infield dirt, the smell of the grass and the crack of the bat fuel us and drive us to consume more. More time on the field. More equipment. More news and stories. More – well, you get the idea. So, take a few minutes to discover all that’s new in YOUR family. And thanks for your time and patronage of Roy Hobbs
Baseball!
“Paul Simon Meets Johnny Cash”
Players and managers in the Roy Hobbs Family would be hard-pressed to tell you who Sean Jenkins is, and surprised to know that they see his work year after year in our event and marketing designs. But wait – there’s more! Meet Sean Jenkins, musician…

Gone’ with his band, Billy Two Shoes HERE>

2020 Gateway City Baseball Bash Canceled
After serious discussion about the ability to hold this event within the newest guidelines for COVID-19 safety precautions, we have decided to cancel the 2020 Gateway City Baseball Bash in St. Louis.
Our sincere thanks to the St. Louis Baseball Forever League managers and league officials for their assistance and support for
this event in the past and hopefully the Memorial Day Baseball Bash will be back.
2020 Sea Otter Baseball Festival Canceled
In order to continue responsibly dealing with Covid-19, we are cancelling the 2020 Sea Otter Baseball Festival over Independence Day weekend. Even in a best case scenario where we are playing baseball again in June, we feel it is not wise to encourage our players to travel and gather so soon. We feel it would be better for local leagues to schedule more games over that time and for all of our players to get back on the fields in their own neck of the woods and under the guidelines and restrictions suggested by their regional health officials. Hopefully, we can all end the baseball season
this year at the World Series in Fort Myers, FL, this Fall.
Sunshine Classic 2021
We are excited to announce the dates for the Sunshine Classic next year. Just a reminder– invitations go out in September, the space is limited and NO team is guaranteed a spot. So, do NOT make any arrangements that cannot be undone. The dates below are tentative as they have not been officially approved; however, we do not expect any issues with these dates.
NOTE that we will have a 50+ AND a new 55+ , as well as 2 separate 60s events. Another reminder– except for the 35s division, the age minimums for
underage players is moving up to only 2 years underage.
IMPORTANT NOTE: MANAGERS MUST SEND A REQUEST TO ROB GIFFEN VIA EMAIL TO GET ON THE INVITATION LIST! The initial invitations will be sent to all returning teams in good standing with RHBB.

ROY HOBBS™ BASEBALL WELCOMES NOKONA™ GLOVES.
Nokona™ Baseball has graciously agreed to add Roy Hobbs™ branding to a limited line of baseball gloves.
The branding starts today with the introduction of the inaugural NRH-1200, a versatile 12-inch glove that is adaptable to several positions in the infield, outfield and, even on the mound.
Click on the Nokona™
logo to check out these NRH-1200 gloves.
The Nokona™ gloves, hand-crafted in the USA, follow the Roy Hobbs™ Made in the USA line. That line was discontinued by the manufacturer in the spring of 2019, and we have been looking for a replacement since, with the understanding that any Roy Hobbs-branded gloves had to have a USA imprint on them. That led us to Nokona, with whom we have been talking since last September.
The Nokona™-Roy Hobbs™ NRH-1200 glove is hand-crafted in the USA from Nokona’s full-grain, US Steerhide and provides a rich, burnished Walnut Crunch™ color with a traditional baseball look. Break-in is minimal.
Roy Hobbs™ still has some of its Made in the USA line available, although limited; 90% of the remaining stock is for left-handed throw players.
HERE’S THE RHBB BUZZ THIS MONTH
COVID-19 : HOW IS IT IMPACTING ROY HOBBS BASEBALL AND OUR EVENTS?
LEAGUE MEMBERSHIP & INSURANCE – As we are all looking at uncertainty about playing baseball this Summer, all we can do is watch to see what happens in the coming weeks. However, we are encouraging our leagues to start making arrangements to start their season at some point this Summer. We do not expect any leagues to pay their membership/insurance invoice until they are confident in a start
date. So, for now, we just need to keep doing what we are doing and kick this Covid thing to the curb. Then we can focus on getting back on the field. When you are ready to sign up your league and purchase your insurance, please start by filling out the form on our website.
